Seven Stories is a converted mill with a literary theme. It contains artwork, manuscripts and traveling exhibitions on the subject of contemporary and modern children’s books. More than the books themselves, the museum holds drafts, correspondence and other papers.

Discovery Museum focuses on Newcastle’s history. Pride of place goes to the Turbinia, the first turbine powered vessel. Play Tyne, a hands on exploration of water for children under eight, and Fashion Works, which traces the development of the fashion industry. Tyneside Challenge has models of devices built in this area like locomotives and artillery pieces.
